Since quite a while ago, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has made it mandatory for all mobile phone users in the country to check and register their cellular devices online with the authority. To begin, you’ll need to navigate to DIRBS’ official online portal. A step-by-step guide will be provided to you on how to register a mobile phone online with the PTA.

  • Step 1: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has an official website. PTA Home, DRS, and DIRBS FAQs can be found on the top-right section of the screen. The Device Registration System can be found by clicking on DRS.
  • Step 2: Your next step is to create an account on the login page. Upon clicking ‘Sign Up, a new page will appear displaying a form. Please enter your contact information, official name, CNIC number, and NICOP number in the form. A new account will be created for you.
Note:Those who are using their mobile/tablet PCs for regular communication might want to choose the option ‘personal/individual for mobile/tablet PCs’ under the purpose menu. The purpose of a business phone will be selected as ‘commercial’ by users who use business phones.
  • Step 3: PTA has sent you a verification link via email. Check your email address and click on it. Your account will be verified and you will be directed to the login page. Using the username and password you created just now, log in to your newly created account.
Note: The declaration form should be read and signed prior to clicking on the ‘Click Here to Register Your Device’ option on the registration page.
  • Step 4:There will be a requirement for you to fill out an application for a Certificate of Compliance (COC). You will be asked to select [Pakistani (Local/International Traveller/Dual Nationality Holder)] or [Foreigner (Traveled on Visa). Select your mobile phone operator [Ufone, Zong, Mobilink/Warid, or Telenor] and add your contact number. Enter the phone’s IMEI number(s) and click submit.
  • Step 5: PTA will respond to your application both by email and by phone, based on the information you provided. There will be a unique PSID code included in the message/email as well as details of what needs to be paid along with the message/email.
Note: It is important to note that the amount of the duty varies depending on the model of the phone. According to the C&F Value of the item in US Dollars, the duty is applied based on the item’s C&F Value.
  • Step 6: If you want to pay your dues via online banking or an ATM machine, you can do so. Alternatively, you can pay the charge by visiting the branch of any bank, including the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), Allied Bank, and Muslim Commercial Bank (MCB).
Please note that the dues are due within seven days of receiving the email.
  • Step 7: In your PTA account, you will see the paid dues. After completing the PTA mobile registration process successfully, the authority will contact you within 1-3 days.

You can register your phone’s IMEI by visiting any CMO mobile franchise if you were not able to register it online. If you wish, you can check out the list of authorized customer service centers and visit the one that is nearest you. The process will be completed on your behalf by them.

Previously, PTA had only been registering mobile devices through walk-ins to their offices prior to the 20th of September 2020. The facility has shifted its mobile registration process to the customer service centers after recent amendments have been made.

Please note that it is important to keep your credentials with you at all times including your CNIC, NICOP, passport, and IMEI number(s).
